Pastoral Care Counseling

Dr. Itzel Harriott-McDuffie

Pastoral care counseling holds a unique place within the spectrum of support and therapeutic services due to its integrative approach that encompasses spiritual, emotional, and psychological well-being from a faith-based perspective. In addition to my Ph.D studies in Psychology and my PharmD specialization in pharmacotherapy medication management, my pastoral care practice is able to provide a multilayered comprehensive perspective on counseling needs.

Pastoral care counseling is not just about problem-solving but about walking alongside someone in their life journey, providing support that is congruent with their faith and life view. It’s a distinctive blend of the art of spiritual care with the science of psychological well-being, all within the context of a shared belief system.
  • Integration of Spirituality and Therapy

  • Foundation on Biblical Principles

  • Focus on Compassion and Presence

  • Emphasis on Hope and Redemption

  • Spiritual Guidance

Why Consider Pastoral Care Counseling?

Individuals seeking to understand or cope with life situations in the context of their faith may find pastoral care counseling particularly resonant.

Those who value the intertwining of emotional health with spiritual well-being may find this approach comprehensive and fulfilling.

During times of crisis, grief, or transition, the comfort drawn from one’s faith tradition can be a powerful tool for resilience and recovery, which pastoral care counselors are equipped to provide.

People who want to ensure that their counseling is in alignment with their Christian values and beliefs may prefer the congruency that pastoral care offers.
