Meet The Team

Jerome McDuffie
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with a rich background as a military veteran and retired Federal Government Official. My passion lies in assisting the brave men, women, and families who have and continue to serve our community in various capacities. I firmly believe in the strength of a therapeutic relationship, and I am convinced that successful therapy stems from a team approach, where the client and therapist work collaboratively to achieve optimal outcomes.
All though I see clients with a wide range of DSM-5 presentations, my specialization encompasses all forms of Clinical Depression, including but not limited to Major Depressive Disorder, Persistent Depressive Disorder (Dysthymia), Cyclothymia, Bipolar I & II, and Schizoaffective Disorder. Differentiating between these disorders is crucial, as treatments, interventions, and medications can significantly vary for each disorder despite similarities in depressive symptoms. My extensive experience allows me to tailor therapeutic strategies that address the unique needs of each individual, ensuring effective and personalized care.

Personality disorders often require specialized care from mental health professionals trained in targeted therapies. My approach focuses on helping individuals gain insight into their challenges, teaching new skills for managing emotions, navigating relationships, and developing more constructive thinking patterns and behaviors. Understanding the factors that shaped one's personality is vital, and I strive to reduce feelings of shame, anger, and self-blame while fostering a path toward healing and growth.
If you or a loved one is struggling with Clinical Depression, Schizophrenia, Personality Disorder or other DSM-5 presentations, I am here to provide the comprehensive and empathetic care needed to navigate these complex conditions. Together, we can work towards a brighter and more fulfilling future.

Dr. Itzel Harriott
A Holistic Functional Medicine Approach to Mental Health and Diabetes Care
PharmD (Doctorate in Pharmacology),
Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern
I’m Dr. Itzel Harriott, a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) with a Doctorate degree in Pharmacology (PharmD). As a dedicated mental health professional, I employ a holistic approach that addresses the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. My expertise in pharmacology, psychology, pastoral counseling, and functional medicine allows me to offer a personalized treatment plan tailored to each individual's unique needs.
Functional medicine is at the core of my practice. This patient-centered approach empowers us to delve deeper into the root causes of mental health issues and chronic conditions like diabetes. By considering factors such as genetics, nutrition, lifestyle, and environment, we can develop a comprehensive plan that promotes lasting well-being. I integrate functional medicine with evidence-based therapies, psychoeducation, and, if desired, faith-based support to provide a truly holistic and compassionate healing journey.
For clients managing diabetes, I offer a specialized approach that integrates mental and physical health. Diabetes can significantly impact emotional well-being, and conversely, mental health conditions can complicate diabetes management. By addressing both aspects holistically, we can work together to improve blood sugar control and overall quality of life.
Our tailored wellness plan includes:
-
Nutritional Guidance: Creating a personalized diet plan to optimize blood sugar levels while supporting emotional health and addressing other health concerns.
-
Lifestyle Adjustments: Implementing strategies to reduce stress, improve sleep, and incorporate gentle exercise, all of which are crucial for managing both diabetes and mental health.
-
Medication and Supplement Management: Leveraging my pharmacological expertise to guide clients in understanding and optimizing their diabetes and mental health medications.
-
Mind-Body Connection: Providing counseling and, if desired, faith-based support to address the emotional impact of diabetes, build resilience, and foster hope.
Through my 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, I strive to make this comprehensive care accessible to underserved communities, including women, veterans, military families, and individuals coping with trauma and PTSD. By providing affordable and effective support, we can empower individuals with diabetes and other chronic conditions to achieve lasting well-being.

administrators. The ability to overcome life issues and pursue your own inner peace and greatness is most often the result of a shift and an elevation of the mindset – and work. I have assisted clients with anxiety, depression, burn out, transitions of life, trauma, stressors of life, and performance related issues. Working through and breaking free from the past and moving forward through current
unhealthy dependences is not an easy process. However, you are worth the investment and the effort it requires. Together we will create a treatment plan that meets your desires and needs.
